Blue Wings Air (Foggia Gino Lisa) has now abandoned plans to operate flights from its Foggia Gino Lisa base to Milan Malpensa. The route's launch was scheduled to commence this month having been postponed from October 27.

As previously reported, the virtual carrier has blamed hidden costs attributed to the use of Foggia's Gino Lisa Airport for rendering the route uneconomical.

Airline representative Valerio Zifaro has also accused the local Foggia city administration of failing to properly use EUR1million (USD1.24million) in subsidies the Pugliese regional government allocated it in order to attract commercial traffic to the city.

Had it launched, the route would have operated on-board a Fokker 50 chartered from Air Vallée (Rimini).
