Fastjet (Dar es Salaam) has announced that it has selected Dar es Salaam as its first base where it will base an A319-100 from November. It then plans to expand to Kenya with a base at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta thereafter as it slowly starts taking over the operations of its sister carriers Fly540 Tanzania (Dar es Salaam) and Fly540 (FFV, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta). It is not yet clear which routes Fastjet currently will serve. Fly540 Tanzania currently operates domestic routes from Dar es Salaam to Kilimanjaro, Mtwara, Mwanza and Zanzibar. From Zanzibar it also operates to Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Mombasa and Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta. From Mwanza Fly540 offers a triangle service to Tabora and Kigoma.
