JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) has published an extensive list of changes to its operational aircraft on use on its international services. The Japanese carrier says the revisions are necessary given a notice from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) concerning a revision of the Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) regarding B787-8 and B747-8 aircraft powered by General Electric (GE) GEnx Series engines. The revision of the AFM is due to a phenomenon in which a B747-8 aircraft, powered by GEnx-2B engines, experienced a temporary uncommanded thrust reduction while navigating through active thunderstorm clouds. The following changes are valid over the period November 25, 2013 to November 30, 2013: Tokyo Haneda - Hong Kong International (B767-300(ER) replaces the B777-200(ER)); Tokyo Haneda – Singapore Changi (B767-300(ER) replaces the B787-8 between November 26 and 30 only); Tokyo NaritaBeijing Capital (B787-8 replaces the B767-300(ER)); Tokyo Narita – Delhi International (B777-200(ER) replaces the B787-8); Tokyo Narita – Singapore (flights JL719/712 - B767-300(ER) replaces the B787-8 while on flights JL711/710 the B767-300ER replaces the B787-8 except on November 25 & 29 when the return flight is operated by a B777-300(ER)). Tokyo Haneda - Seoul Gimpo B767-300(ER) switches to either the B737-800 or the B767-300 (Domestic).
