EuroLOT (Warsaw Chopin) will wet-lease the sixth LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin) B787-8, SP-LRF (msn 35942), for possible flights to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Poland's aeronews.pl has reported.
Officials told the newswire that if the project to start services to South East Asia is to go ahead successfully, then all the necessary preparations (applications for slots and traffic rights among others) would have to be made now in order to tap into the Summer holiday market.
LOT had also been linked to talks with Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) over the use of SP-LRF for flights between Istanbul Atatürk and San Francisco this summer. The outcome of those talks is yet unknown.
In light of EuroLOT's historic domestic and regional operations, the launch of long-haul flights is seen as a major part of the restructuring of LOT itself.
The Polish national carrier is currently undergoing a renewal and consolidation programme in line with European Commission regulations regarding state bailouts to struggling airlines.
