Avianca (Bogotá) has sold its entire fleet of ten Fokker 50s to Amur JMW Aviation LLC, a joint venture between Amur Finance Company, Inc. and Jet Midwest, a full-service commercial aviation company specializing in the sale and lease of commercial aircraft, engines and parts as well as MRO services.
Under the terms of the deal, the turboprops will be ferried to Jet Midwest Technik's facilities at Kansas City International. Following thorough checks and maintenance, the aircraft will be released onto the market.
Avianca grounded its fleet of F50s in mid-February citing its poor reliability.
"After the Fokker 50 fleet had been removed from our operations, we received from Amur JMW a purchase offer which we have accepted. This sale helps us to continue with our fleet modernization plan for 2014," Fabio Villegas, Avianca's CEO, stated.
The Colombian carrier is replacing the Fokker Aircraft (Woensdrecht) with ATR72s delivered from ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac).
