Hong Kong Airlines (HX, Hong Kong International) is to go public in the coming months Chen Feng, the chairman of the airline's parent Hainan Group, has disclosed. In a bid to raise capital to fund the expansion of his Group, Chen told Bloomberg newswire that the listing may raise "about USD1billion" later this year.
In January, the airline appointed Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, BOC International and Standard Chartered as its listing sponsors.
The Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou) subsidiary was forced to cancel plans to list in 2012 citing market volatility.
Known as CR Airways (Hong Kong International) until 2006, Hong Kong Airlines operates scheduled regional passenger and cargo services to destinations in Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, including codeshares with its sister airline, HK Express (UO, Hong Kong International).
