Centurion Air Cargo (Miami International) is planning to replace its fleet of MD-11(F)s with B747-400(F)s industry publication, Cargo Facts, has reported. Over the next three years, the cargo carrier says it will retire its four MD-11(F)s, along with five MD-11(F)s belonging to subsidiary SkyLease Cargo (GG, Miami International), and replace them with a lesser number of B747 freighters.
SkyLease, which currently operates two B747-400(F)s, will take delivery of its third B747-400(F) freighter - N903AR (msn 33096) - in the coming weeks while a fourth will follow in September.
Cargo Facts speculates that an equal number of MD-11 freighters will leave the fleet before the end of the year.
Both Centurion and SkyLease offer scheduled and charter services to various destinations in the United States, Mexico, South America, and Europe.
