Primera Air Scandinavia (Billund) has applied to the US Department of Transportation for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit. In its application, the Danish operator requested permission to operate both scheduled and charter, passenger and cargo flights between and beyond the European Union, the European Common Aviation Area, and the United States.

According to documents seen by ch-aviation, a response is due on August 11 with Primera having plans to serve the US this winter season.

Using a fleet of two B737-700s and six B737-800s, Primera Air operates scheduled flights connecting Scandinavia with leisure destinations in countries such as Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Croatia and Portugal selling directly to the general public and tour operators.
