Tigerair Taiwan (IT, Taipei Taoyuan) has reportedly selected Bangkok Don Mueang for its maiden flight, set for September 1. Airport general manager Chaturongkapon Sodmanee told the Bangkok Post that the Tigerair (Singapore Changi) subsidiary intends to operate a daily service on-board an A320-200. Tigerair Taiwan's first sharklet equipped A320-200 will be B-50001 (msn 6187).

Tigerair has yet to issue an official comment on the report.

The start-up is a 90/10 joint venture between local carrier China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan) and Singaporean LCC Tigerair with initial capital amounting to TWD2billion (USD66.7million).

The service launch to Bangkok will also coincide with the resumption of Golden Myanmar Airlines (GMR, Yangon) flights to the Thai capital, then served via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, suspended over 7 months ago.
