Turkmenistan Airlines (T5, Ashgabat) is considering the launch of a possible Ashgabat to Toronto Pearson via Riga, Latvia route Central Asian Aero News has reported.

Latvia's Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Uldis Reymanis, made the disclosure at an international conference on transit and transport corridors in Ashgabat adding that studies had shown that Riga would make an ideal intermediary stopover given its geographical position.

The airline would almost certainly use its fleet of three B777-200(LR)s to service the route.

Currently, Turkmenistan Airlines covers domestic routes as well as flights to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the CIS.
