Air Transat (TS, Montréal Trudeau) has signed two agreements for the seasonal leasing of Boeing 737 narrow-body aircraft, to be provided during the winter months by French carrier, Europe Airpost (Paris CDG), as well as Czech carrier, Travel Service Airlines (Prague Václav Havel).

The agreements cover the leasing of two B737-700s and two B737-800s with respective capacities of 148 and 189 seats. The aircraft will be operated for Air Transat on its Mexico and Caribbean sun destinations routes.

"This announcement marks the completion of Transat's narrow-body internalization plan for winter 2014–2015, begun in July 2013," the firm said in a statement Monday. "With this strategy implemented, Transat boasts a flexible fleet comprising Boeing 737s, along with Airbus A310-300s and A330s, with configuration to be adjusted according to seasonal tourism market fluctuations."

In 2013 Transat signed a long-term agreement with the US-based International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) for four permanent B737-800s, as well as an agreement with Transavia France (TO, Paris Orly) for the seasonal leasing of B737-800s.

Currently, the Canadian carrier operates a fleet of nine A310-300s, eight A330-200s, four A330-300s, and five B737-800s (though this will rise to 12 in winter - ten B737-800s and two B737-700s).
