Cebu Pacific Air (5J, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) along with AirAsia Zest (Manila Ninoy Aquino International), PAL Express (2P, Manila Ninoy Aquino International), and Tigerair Philippines (Angeles City Clark International), have all been forced to suspend their respective Tacloban operations after the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) declared the airport's main runway 18/36 out of order due to the development of large pot holes.

While repairs are undertaken later this week, we will allow small turboprops to use the airfield, larger commercial jets will likely have to wait a matter of months a CAAP official told the Inquirer newspaper.

“Jets like Airbus A320 or Boeing B737 will resume flights there only after the total replacement of the five-inch asphalt on the whole runway is done,” the CAAP said in the statement.
