Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has announced that its freight division, Garuda Indonesia Cargo, is planning to join the Skyteam Cargo Alliance by the end of June 2015.

Made during the TIACA Air Cargo Forum in Seoul, the announcement was accompanied by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by Rajendra Kartawiria, Vice President of Garuda Indonesia Cargo, and Chong Choy, Chairman of SkyTeam Cargo.

"By joining SkyTeam Cargo, Garuda Indonesia Cargo will offer more than 900 worldwide locations, giving our customers a far greater choice of destinations from and to Indonesia,” said Kartawiria. “These additional destinations and greater collaboration with other SkyTeam members will also support Garuda Indonesia’s planned 30% capacity increase in 2015. Garuda Indonesia Cargo will strengthen SkyTeam’s Cargo network in Asia Pacific by adding 63 new destinations, increasing global trade between the dynamic Indonesian market and the rest of the world.”

Garuda Indonesia Cargo now begins the process to join SkyTeam Cargo by completing the necessary membership requirements. These include amongst others: IT system integration; product alignment and enhancement; service procedure improvement in accordance service standards; and improving brand image.
