Angara Airlines (AGU, Irkutsk International) has been granted an international operator's licence by Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) paving the way for it to launch its maiden external services later this month.

The carrier says its first international route will be Irkutsk International to Ulaanbaatar operated on-board one of its five An-148-100s.

One of Eastern Siberia's most prominent carriers, Angara Airlines operates scheduled passenger flights throughout the Irkutsk region as well as to other regions in the Siberian Federal District. It also operates charter flights to other points in Russia. At present, the carrier's fleet consists of five An-148s, seven An-24s, two An-26s, three An-2 aircraft and various Mil Helicopters.
