Hunnu Air (MR, Ulaanbaatar) suspended its Ulaanbaatar to Hong Kong International route with effect from November 5 citing poor loads factors brought on by a weak Mongolian economy. In summer this year, the carrier was forced to suspend flights to Paris CDG, Tokyo Narita, Shanghai Pudong, and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi again due to lack of demand.
At present, the Mongolian carrier still serves Hailar, Erenhot and Manzhouli internationally with the rest of its operations entirely domestic. Hunnu operates three Fokker 50s as well as two A319-100s.
Mongolia's ailing economy has already forced Eznis Airways (MG, Ulaanbaatar) out of business while MIAT - Mongolian Airlines (OM, Ulaanbaatar) has opened its doors to potential investors capable of shoring up its finances for the foreseeable future.
