Air Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca) along with Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) and Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) have all expressed an interest in opening up services to Corvera International Airport, the country's newest airport which is scheduled to commence operations in the middle of next month.

The Murcia region's Minister of Works, Manuel Campos, told The Leader news site that if all regulatory procedures go according to plan, the airport will likely open to scheduled commercial traffic on April 2, 2015.

The airport features a single passenger terminal of 28'500 sqm capable of handling 3 million passengers per annum. Its sole 3'000x45m runway will also be able to handle 23,000 movements per year.

Backed by the regional government, it will be privately managed by a consortium of seven companies, led by Sacyr Concesiones, and will give competition to neighbouring Murcia San Javier airport.
