Inter Îles Air (Anjouan) is planning to add its first jet aircraft to its fleet of Cessna (single turboprop)s, Cessna (twin piston) and Saab 340B props. Sources in the Comoros inform ch-aviation that the airline is looking to deploy a 120-seat B737-200Adv.

The jet will be used on an ambitious expansion plan entailing year-round, bi-weekly flights from Dzaoudzi to Mauritius via Moroni International and St. Pierre de la Réunion. The route is expected to encounter competition from Air Austral subsidiary, EWA Air (ZD, Dzaoudzi).

Late last year, airline managing director Ahmed Inzoudine confirmed plans to add a B737 to Inter Îles Air's fleet.

"We plan to open several routes to Majunga, Dar es Salaam, Mauritius, Mombasa, and St. Pierre de la Réunion. To meet this objective, we will lease a Boeing 737," he told the Journal de Mayotte. "We want to be a major player in the Comorian aviation market."

Founded in 2007, the airline has up until now, primarily focussed on inter-island flights.
