Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) may consider replacing its ageing fleet of Fokker regional jets with newer Embraer E-Jets. Austrianwings quotes well-informed sources saying the carrier may receive second-hand Embraer E-Jets from another Lufthansa Group subsidiary, Lufthansa CityLine (CL, Munich). No official statements have yet been made by the carrier.

So far the Bombardier CSeries was said to be the preferred replacement. But due to project delays, the Austrian carrier may have changed its plans and now prefer a faster replacement with used Embraer aircraft.

Austrian Airlines currently has a fleet of 15 Fokker 100s and six Fokker 70s with an average age of 21.8 and 19.4 years respectively. They are currently operated by Tyrolean Airways (Innsbruck).

Lufthansa CityLine operates a fleet of 52 aircraft, including 24 E195s and nine E190s.

Austrian is planning to resume four times weekly Fokker service between Vienna and Odesa from March 30 replacing codeshare partner Ukraine International Airlines (PS, Kyiv Boryspil) on the route that will give up its own four times weekly E190 flights.
