Republic Airlines (Indianapolis International) parent, Republic Holdings, has firmed up options for five more E175 jets an SEC filing has revealed. The 76-seater twinjets are destined to be operated for United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) under its United Express banner.

As such, this commitment brings Republic's United EMB-175 order backlog with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) to fifty-five with deliveries scheduled to run from the third quarter of this year to the last quarter of 2017.

Of Republic's fleet of eighty-two existing EMB-175s, thirty-eight are in service for US Airways Express with the remaining forty-six in service for American Eagle. Subsidiary Shuttle America (Fort Wayne International) also operates sixteen of the type for and on behalf of Delta Air Lines' Delta Connection service.
