Germania (Berlin Schönefeld) is to phase out its remaining fleet of ten B737-700s as part of plans to transition to a homogeneous, all-Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) fleet CEO Karsten Balke told Reuters last week.

Speaking at the recently ended ITB travel trade fair in Berlin, Balke said his airline is looking to make the switch before 2020 with additional Airbus purchase rights to be firmed up as and when pricing permits.

Germania also operates eight A319-100s and five A321-200s on its route network which encompasses flights throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa, as well as Iran and Iraq.

Germania's Swiss subsidiary Germania Flug (Zurich) has now received its air operator certificate on March 6 ahead of its planned launch of commercial operations on behalf of HolidayJet (Zurich) and Air Prishtina from March 26.
