Syphax Airlines (Sfax) will resume its only transatlantic route - Tunis to Montréal Trudeau - later this summer. Launched as a weekly flight in April last year, the route was downgraded to a seasonal service in September with flights suspended from December onwards.
The carrier says it is in talks with with other airlines concerning possible cooperation agreements - codeshare agreements in particular - ahead of the relaunch.
It is currently uncertain which aircraft will operate the flight given that the carrier's initial widebody, A330-200 TS-IRA (cn 345), was returned to Airbus Leasing after it suffered a serious engine malfunction in Jeddah International earlier this year.
National carrier Tunisair (TU, Tunis) is also planning to make its North American debut this summer with its own services to Montreal scheduled to begin in September.
