ES-air (Esbjerg) has announced it will cease operations from March 29 onwards citing weak demand. The last flight to be operated will be JTG8 from Esbjerg to Copenhagen Kastrup that evening. The company says it will fully refund all outstanding bookings.

The virtual carrier, which started operations on March 2 with an ATR 72-500 chartered from Jet Time (2006) (Copenhagen Kastrup), aimed to revive flights between the small city of Esbjerg, in Western Denmark, and the capital Copenhagen.

Though the route had proven very popular once upon a time, it was rendered obsolete in the late 1990s following the construction of the 6.8km-long Storebæltsbroen (Great Belt Bridge) which now offers direct road and rail links between the main Danish islands of Zealand (Sjælland) and Funen (Fyn).
