Air Tahiti Nui (TN, Papeete) has finalized an order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for two B787-9s. Announced in February of this year, the order is valued at USD514 million at current list prices and will see the jets arriving in the South Pacific in May and July of 2019.
In addition to the two owned jets, the Tahitian carrier will also lease two more B787-9s from Air Lease Corporation which are slated to arrive in October 2018.
With the arrival of the new aircraft, so Air Tahiti Nui will phase out its current all-Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) fleet of five A340-300s with four airframes destined to be scrapped while the other will be returned to its lessor.
