CanJet Vacations, the package-holiday subsidiary of Canadian charter specialist CanJet Airlines (Halifax), has suspended operations effective immediately. The move comes just ten months after the outfit was launched.
According to the Canadian Aviation news blog, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario has already been advised by CanJet Vacations executives that it has ceased operations.
Last month, the Air Line Pilots Association warned its members that in light of CanJet's ongoing difficulties, CanJet Vacations would not likely last beyond the upcoming summer season.
CanJet launched the unit in August last year hoping to tap into the Caribbean packaged holiday market. However, despite early signs of promise, demand plummeted this past winter forcing parent CanJet to cancel 40% of its planned flights while laying off twenty-one pilots.
