FedEx Express (FX, Memphis International) says it has permanently retired fifteen aircraft as part of a fleet capacity rationalization and modernization drive. Of the jets, seven were MD-11(F)s, three were A300-600(F)s, four were A310-300(F)s, and one was an MD10-10. A further twenty-three aircraft are expected to be retired in due course as well.
In the longterm, the US logistics giant says it will replace lost capacity with newer B777-Fs and B767-300Fs delivered from Boeing (BOE, Washington National).
