The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved plans that will allow Delta Private Jets (Cincinnati International) to carry commercial mainline Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) passengers.

Under its patent-pending upgrade program launched this week, Delta will allow its “Medallion” frequent fliers (those who fly more than 25,000 miles annually on the airline) to upgrade to private jets at a cost of between USD300 and USD800, depending on the destination.

Bloomberg news reports that initially, the program will have seats available for a small number of flights, primarily on the US East Coast, with one day’s notice required for the upgrade.

Delta Private Jets operates a variety of executive jets ranging from Hawker 400XPs and Cessna 560 XL/XLSs, to larger Challenger 300s and Falcon 2000EX/EASY/LXs.
