flydubai (FZ, Dubai International) has announced it will commence scheduled operations out of Dubai World Central this winter in a move that will see the budget carrier operating from both of the Emirate's principal airports.

In a statement, flydubai said effective October 25, it would offer flights from Dubai World Central to Amman Queen Alia, Beirut, Chittagong, Doha Hamad International, Kathmandu, Kuwait, and Muscat. Existing flights to those destinations from Dubai International will continue to operate as normal.

"The development of DWC will allow the UAE’s highly successful aviation sector to continue to grow strongly over the next decades," the carrier said. "Following the recent decision to expand capacity at the existing terminal at DWC to 26 million by 2018 flydubai has taken the opportunity to offer its passengers the choice of flying from Dubai’s two airports."

Primarily a cargo hub, other scheduled passenger carriers to serve Dubai World Central include: Arke Fly, Gulf Air, Jazeera Airways, Qatar Airways, Rotana Jet Aviation, and Wizz Air.
