Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) says it has signed a firm order agreement with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for 110 A321neo aircraft. The order was first announced as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during this year's Paris Air Show 2015 at Paris Le Bourget and includes purchase rights for an additional ninety aircraft of the same type. These purchase rights can be exercised in four batches; by June 2017, June 2018, June 2019 and June 2020 respectively.

The aircraft, which are due for delivery between 2019 and 2024 (inclusive), will enable the Hungarian LCC to renew its existing fleet and provide additional capacity for further growth.

Of the 110 aircraft to be delivered, fifty-one aircraft will be used to replace existing aircraft when they are returned to lessors or sold between 2019 and 2024.

As previously reported by ch-aviation, Wizz Air has also cancelled ten A320ceo family aircraft that were scheduled for delivery in 2018 under its existing purchase agreement with the European manufacturer.

Of its current contracts, Wizz Air has taken delivery of sixty-one A320ceo from an order total of 112 that includes twenty-seven high-density A321ceo that will begin arriving from November.

Deliveries of the remaining forty-one aircraft still on order, following the cancellation of the aforementioned ten A320ceo, will continue through to mid-2018.
