City Airways (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has taken delivery of its first B737-800 HS-GTH (msn 30231), an ex-China Xinhua Airlines (Beijing Capital) aircraft that has just been de-registered to Thailand on September 15.
The first -800 series aircraft joins a fleet of two B737-400s City Airways currently operates on flights linking Bangkok Don Mueang and Phuket with Hong Kong International.
While the carrier has recently plans to lease ten C919s and ten ARJ21-700s from China's ICBC Financial Leasing, lessor Logistic Air has told ch-aviation that it is about to repossess B737-400 HS-GTG (msn 27191) only three months after the commencement of a lease claiming that City Airways not not paid its monthly lease rates. Logistic Air said in its statement that it would be the third lessor after BCI and AAR taking such measures against City Airways in recent years.
