Thai Airways International (TG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has no plans to dispose of its fleet of A380-800s and will continue to operate them on key flagship routes to London Heathrow, Frankfurt International, Paris CDG, and Tokyo Narita.

Airline president Charamporn Jotikasthira told the Bangkok Post in an interview that despite an ongoing review of the loss making carrier's fleet, the twindeck aircraft made financial sense so long as all 507 seats are filled.

Since the beginning of the year, Thai has put over twenty unwanted aircraft including A330-300s, A340-500s, A340-600s, A300-600s, B777-200(ER)s, and B737-400s up for sale.

While recent reports indicated it would also be disposing of its fleet of twelve B747-400s, CEO Charamporn Jotikasthira told CAPA last month that they would now be retained for longer than originally expected. The decline in the price of fuel coupled with plenty of available trained crews has rendered the type more appealing for the short term, he said.
