InterSky (Friedrichshafen) says it filed for insolvency with the District Court of Vorarlberg (Austria) on Monday, November 9. A court-appointed administrator will decide on the way forward for the carrier and its creditors after it ceased commercial operations on Thursday, November 5.

The move follows the breakdown in talks between the struggling Austrian regional operator and the Central German Tourism Development Company (Mitteldeutschen Tourismusentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH - MDTE) early last week. MDTE reportedly baulked at the prospect of having to cover all of InterSky's estimated EUR20 million (USD22 million) debt as part of a buy-out proposal.

Rival carrier and Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) subsidiary Eurowings (EW, Düsseldorf) has already announced plans to cover InterSky's Friedrichshafen to Düsseldorf and Berlin Tegel flights from November 26 onwards.

InterSky is owned by INTRO Aviation GmbHwith 24.7%, PEON Beteiligungs GmbH (which is owned by the CEO of Intro Aviation, Peter Oncken) with 25.1%, Intro Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (which is owned by the owner of Intro Aviation, Hans Rudolf Wöhrl) with 25.1%, the Rolf Seewald Brigitte Private Foundation with 22.1%, and Rolf, Günter and Christian Seewald with 1% each.
