Jiangxi Airlines (RY, Nanchang International) has set its sights on securing its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) before year-end in time for an early 2016 launch.
Using an initial fleet of five B737-800s acquired from co-owner Xiamen Airlines (MF, Xiamen), the start-up plans to serve Xi'an Xianyang, Urumqi, Chongqing, Beijing Capital, Shanghai Pudong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Xiamen from its Nanchang hub. In terms of its expansion plans, Jiangxi Airlines plans to add two more aircraft by the end of next year aiming for an overall fleet of twenty jets by 2020.
Overall, Xiamen Airlines owns a 60% stake in the start-up while the Jiangxi Airlines Investment Co. holds the remaining 40%. The Jiangxi Airlines Investment Co. is funded by the Jiangxi Railway Investments Group, the Jiangxi Provincial Investment Group, the Jiangxi Provincial Financial Investment Group, and the Nanchang City Tourism Investment Holding Group.
