Alliance Airlines (QQ, Brisbane International) parent firm, Alliance Aviation Services, has announced it will acquire Austrian Airlines' entire fleet of twenty-one Fokker Aircraft (Woensdrecht) for a total consideration of USD15 million.

Under the deal, fifteen Fokker 100s and six Fokker 70s will be delivered to and owned by Alliance Aviation Slovakia (Bratislava) - a wholly owned subsidiary of Alliance Aviation Services. The aircraft will be delivered and purchased progressively over a twenty-six month period commencing in December 2015. Payment will comprise an issue of new shares in Alliance to Austrian Airlines AG for a total value of USD5.5 million and a later cash component of approximately USD9.5 million.

Some of the aircraft will be ferried to Bratislava where they will be used for leasing operations. Austrian Airlines Technik Bratislava will oversee the outsourcing of spare parts, engines, and other major components for Alliance Air as well as operators around the world. The Australian charter specialist operates fifteen Fokker 100s, eight Fokker 70s, and five Fokker 50 turboprops.

“This purchase now provides Alliance with the opportunity to expand Alliance’s revenue streams into new areas and geographies and also provides a cost effective longterm supply of parts to our existing Fokker fleet," Alliance Managing Director, Scott McMillan, said. "These opportunities both in Australia and through the establishment of an office in Europe will allow Alliance to generate new income streams that are not directly related to the Australian "Fly In/Fly Out" (FIFO) resources sector.”

Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) is in the process of replacing its Fokker fleet with seventeen E195s sourced from fellow Lufthansa Group member, Lufthansa CityLine (CL, Munich).
