Air Serbia (JU, Belgrade Nikola Tesla) has been awarded a Foreign Air Carrier's Permit by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) in time for the carrier's launch of direct flights to the United States later this year.

As it stands, Air Serbia is now permitted to operate scheduled and chartered passenger and cargo flights between Serbia and the US as well as points behind the Republic of Serbia, via the Republic of Serbia, and intermediate points to a point or points in the United States and beyond.

As previously reported, Air Serbia will commence 5x weekly nonstop flights between Belgrade Nikola Tesla and New York JFK with effect from June 23. Operations are on-board an ex-Jet Airways (Mumbai International) A330-200 on lease from Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International).
