Congo Airways (8Z, Kinshasa N'Djili) has taken delivery of its maiden Dash 8-400 - 9Q-DKV - following a delivery flight from Addis Ababa International where it had been undergoing maintenance with Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International).

The turboprops, the second of which is due later this month, will be used to open up flights to more remote parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) such as Beni, Buta Zega, Bunia, and Gemena.

At present, the state-run carrier operates a pair of A320-200s with a further two expected before the end of the year. The added capacity will then be used in the launch of international flights.
