Following an EGM on Friday, April 22, Jet Airways (Mumbai International) shareholders and creditors have approved a management-backed plan to merge the company with its JetLite (Delhi International) subsidiary.

The move is expected to result in greater operational cost efficiencies across the board despite the two airlines continuing to operate on separate AOCs.

Originally operating as a low-cost carrier, the JetLite product has already been aligned to mainline standards. It currently operate three B737-700s and five B737-800s.
