Cobalt (Larnaca) has secured its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the Cypriot Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) chairman Gregory Diacou has told the Agence France Presse (AFP).

Using its only aircraft, A320-200 5B-DCQ (cn 558), the start-up conducted its demonstration flight this week following which its AOC was conferred. It will now proceed with its application for a commercial air transport licence from the Cypriot Air Transport Licensing Authority (ATLA).

Cobalt has set a tentative launch date of June 1 with regular flights to Athens, Greece followed by the United Kingdom and other European destinations thereafter. Three more aircraft, presumably A320 Family jets, will be added to the fleet by the end of June, Diacou said.
