Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) has taken delivery of its first A350-900, B-LRA (cn 029). The twinjet was ferried from Toulouse Blagnac to Hong Kong International on May 28 and is tentatively scheduled to make its commercial debut on June 1 on flights to Manila Ninoy Aquino International and Taipei Taoyuan.

According to Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac), the Hong Kong-based carrier's A350 fleet will include twenty one additional A350-900s and twenty six of the larger A350-1000s. Of the -900s, a total of twelve are scheduled to be delivered this year with the remainder due next year. Deliveries of the -1000s are scheduled to begin in 2018.

Cathay has meanwhile announced final plans for the retirement of its B747-400 fleet with the last flight planned to be CX543 from Tokyo Haneda to Hong Kong on October 1. It currently operates three B747-400s, mainly on routes to Taipei and Tokyo Haneda.
