Germania (Berlin Schönefeld) has placed a firm order with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for twenty-five A320neo during the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow. The order, which includes fifteen additional options, will see ten aircraft delivered in 2020, five in 2021, and ten in 2022. All will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines.

The German leisure operator currently employs a fleet of eight A319-100s, four A321-200s, and ten B737-700s on flights to destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East from mainly German, Swiss and UK bases.

As part of its fleet renewal programme, planes which are currently foreign-leased will leave Germania‘s fleet first. Thereafter, the new Airbus jets will also begin to replace the carrier's B737s. Once the plan is completed, Germania, along with its Swiss subsidiary Germania Flug (Zurich), will consist entirely of Airbus equipment.
