EgyptAir (MS, Cairo International) has placed a firm order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for nine B737-800s at the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow. Eight of the aircraft will be financed by the Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE).

The purchase was previously attributed to an unidentified customer on the US manufacturer's order books.

The ch-aviation aircraft database indicates EgyptAir is a longtime B737 operator having employed seven B737-200Advs and five B737-500s in the past. At present, it operates twenty B737-800s on scheduled flights throughout Egypt as well as to East and West Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
