The Cypriot Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) says it will conduct an investigation into Cobalt (Larnaca) following a series of incidents that have affected its operations in recent days.
The announcement came at the behest of the country's Ministry of Transport which is now seeking clarification over whether or not to take "additional measures" against the airline.
In recent weeks, the start-up has suffered a series of operational mishaps involving its in-house as well as leased fleets.
On August 20, one of its A320-200s - 5B-DCR (cn 928) - was forced to return to Larnaca after an abnormal gear indication shortly after takeoff for Manchester International.
Another incident, on the same weekend, involved A320-200 - CS-TKV (cn 1422) - on lease from Portugal's Everjets (EVJ, Porto). The Sigma Live newspaper reports eighty-five passengers on-board flight CO729 objected to continuing to use the aircraft, which had stopped in Athens en-route from Thessaloniki to Larnaca, for their return flight. According to an airline spokesman, the aircraft had stopped in the Greek capital after it encountered technical issues, later revealed to be cabin pressurization problems, which have since been amended.
