Camair-Co (QC, Douala) terminated scheduled passenger flights to Paris CDG, France, on Friday, September 30 citing a network restructuring exercise. The route was the Cameroonian carrier's only longhaul service and was usually plied with its flagship aircraft, B767-300(ER) TJ-CAC (msn 28138).

According to the Business in Cameroon magazine, newly appointed chairman Mefiro Oumarou told a board meeting last week that the carrier would refocus its attention on the domestic market by developing routes to the northwestern and western cities of Bamenda and Bafoussam in particular. It already serves Garoua, Maroua, N'Gaoundéré, and Yaoundé Nsimalen using its MA-60 and B737-700 fleets.

Aside from France, Camair-Co also serves the Central African Republic, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Kinshasa), Nigeria, Senegal, Benin, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Chad.

Camair-Co is set to embark of a restructuring programme with its sole-shareholder, the Cameroon government, having pledged to recapitalize it to the tune of XAF60 billion CFA francs (USD101 million) while at the same time restructuring XAF35 billion (USD59 million) worth of its debt.
