Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) has announced it will wet-lease an A340-300 from Portuguese ACMI/charter specialist Hi Fly (5K, Beja) between November 3, 2016 and January 8, 2017.

The Oneworld carrier said in a statement the aircraft will be used to ply its daily Helsinki Vantaa-New York JFK return service while its A330 flight-crews undergo type-rating for the A350-900 which it is in the process of inducting.

"Pilot trainings are a part of our preparations for growth. This wet lease is a part of our efforts to ensure punctual operations during the next months, when a large share of Finnair pilots are tied up in A350 related trainings," Jaakko Schildt, Finnair's Chief Operating Officer, said.
