The Italian civil aviation authority (ENAC) has ordered the closure of Crotone Sant'Anna Airport to all traffic with effect from November 1.
ENAC said in a statement that the decision was taken after the airfield's bankruptcy administrator announced operator Sant'Anna Aeroporto SpA would be wound up on October 31. The publicly-owned company has been under court-ordered administration since April 2015.
The announcement comes after Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) confirmed it would be withdrawing from the southern Italian airfield with effect from October 29 thereby leaving it with no other known commercial service.
