Thailand's Nakhon Si Thammarat airport has resume operations on Friday 18:00 after being closed for a week following flood damage, according to The Bangkok Post.

Heavy monsoon rains in the first week of 2017 led to flooding in southern Thailand, with thirty-six people killed. Authorities made the decision to close Nakhon Si Thammarat airport after floodwater spilled onto the main runway. Landing lights and the terminal were also damaged.

Attempts to survey the airport and establish its fitness were hampered by more rain earlier this week.

Three airlines – Nok Air (DD, Bangkok Don Mueang), Thai Lion Air (SL, Bangkok Don Mueang), and Thai AirAsia (FD, Bangkok Don Mueang) – usually operate out of Nakhon Si Thammarat airport with a combined 88 flights per week, primarily to Bangkok Don Mueang.
