Iran Aseman Airlines (EP, Tehran Mehrabad) is in talks with German carrier TUI fly (Germany) (X3, Hannover) over the proposed lease of three B737-800s, Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development has said.

According to an official statement issued last week, the contract being negotiated is for three years. No timeframes were revealed although, should the contract be finalized, it will be Iran Aseman's first B737NextGen aircraft.

At present, it operates three A320-200s, one A340-300, six ATR72-200/500s, three B727-200s, two B737-400s, and nineteen Fokker 100s.

Concerning the Fokker Aircraft (Woensdrecht), the Ministry said Iran Aseman is also in the process of negotiating with Rolls-Royce the purchase of a total of four Tay-650 engines along with associated spare parts. Given that the engines have limited US-manufactured parts in them, no OFAC export licence will be required for them.

The Mehr News Agency reports that Iran Aseman Airlines has also signed an agreement with Lufthansa Group for the overhaul of one of its A340-300's CFM International CFM56-5C2 powerplants. The deal reportedly includes provision for the Germans to supply Iran Aseman with other unspecified aircraft in future.
