Volaris Costa Rica (Q6, San José Juan Santamaría) has announced plans to begin regular flights to the continental United States during the third quarter of this year.
According to its application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit (FACP) and Exemption Authority, Volaris Costa Rica plans to start flights to the United States in or about September 2017. Initial destinations will include Houston Intercontinental, Los Angeles International, and New York.
A unit of Mexican LCC Volaris (Y4, México City International), the Costa Rican budget carrier commenced operations in December last year using an A320-200 wet-leased from its parent. It currently offer regular flights from its San José Juan Santamaría hub to each of Guatemala City, Salvador International, and Managua (starts April 7).
