Spirit Airlines (NK, Fort Lauderdale International) is nearing a decision on its future fleet make-up and is considering adding "larger" Boeing aircraft, Chief Executive Officer Ted Christie said during the International Aviation Forecast Summit.

As reported by Reuters, Christie said that the ULCC was interested in the A321-200neo, but was also "in conversations" with Boeing about its "larger" aircraft. He did not specify the types of Boeing aircraft Spirit Airlines was looking at.

Spirit Airlines previously said that it would finalise its fleet order plans around mid-2019.

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Spirit Airlines currently operates thirty-one A319-100s, sixty-four A320-200s, twelve A320-200neo, and thirty A321-200s. The carrier has a further forty-three A320neo on order from Airbus with deliveries planned through December 2021.

Spirit Airlines retired its last non-Airbus jets, MD-80s and DC-9s, in 2006.

Christie, who became Spirit Airlines' CEO at the beginning of 2019, has previously said that Spirit is not dogmatically insistent on operating a single-type fleet.
