United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) has revealed in its quarterly financial report that Boeing has deferred deliveries of seven United B737 MAX and three of its B787-10s from 2022 to 2023.
Following the adjustment, the American carrier plans to take forty-three B737 MAX during the remainder of 2022. Its plan also foresees five B787-10 deliveries, which, however, hinge on the FAA allowing the B787 production line to resume.
"We currently expect full-year 2022 adjusted CapEx of about USD5.2 billion, which will be lower to the extent fewer aircraft are actually delivered," Chief Financial Officer Gerald Laderman said.
United Airlines has just eight B787-10s remaining on firm order from Boeing on top of twelve B787-8s, thirty-eight B787-9s, and thirteen -10s already in its fleet. Its B737 MAX backlog is much more substantial with sixty-seven B737-8s, thirty-two B737-9s, 253 B737-10s, and eight unidentified variants yet to be delivered. The carrier already operates sixteen -8s and thirty-four -9s. It revealed that it plans to buy eight B737 MAX currently under a sale-and-leaseback transaction in 2023. The ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows that 32 United B737 MAX are leased.
