New Mexico Airlines (Albuquerque International) has lost a contract with Los Alamos County to provide daily Los Alamos to Albuquerque International flights after it failed to ply the route for the past week. In a letter sent to the airline sent on Tuesday, January 13, the municipality said the last flight under the contract would operate on Friday, January 23.

County Manager Harry Burgess said a new Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to replace New Mexico Airlines will be issued within two weeks.

“We have heard positive feedback about offering flights between Los Alamos and Albuquerque, and we want to continue to offer that convenient and cost effective transportation option to business travelers, residents and visitors,” he said.

Unspecified maintenance issues with its Cessna (single turboprop) 208B Grand Caravans forced the Pacific Wings (Kahului) subsidiary to suspend service for two weeks in December.
